In 1997 the EC reclassified RCF as category 2 carcinogen. It therefore became necessary to develop alternatives to the vacuum formed RCF products in common use.
Brightcross has developed a number of materials, which can be used as viable alternatives to RCF in a number of applications, and we are constantly improving and updating our range to provide suitable alternatives. These are based on body soluble fibres which because of their composition (Na2O + K2O + CaO + MgO + BaO content exceeding 18% by weight) and their low biopersistence are not classified as carcinogenic.
Alusol - for molten aluminium applications.
Silin HT - for other non ferrous and ferrous applications where higher temperatures are encountered.
Both of the above products are low density and have excellent insulating properties.
