All of our products contain Man Made Vitreous Fibres (MMVF). When these products are handled, machined, cut or abraded, and particularly after high temperature use when the binders have burnt out, respirable airborne fibres may be released into the atmosphere. Users should observe the applicable national exposure limits for respirable airborne fibres. For guidance on the safe handling of MMVF please refer to www.eurima.org/using_mineral_wool/health_aspects.html . For guidance on the safe handling of Refractory Ceramic Fibre (RCF) please refer to www.ecfia.eu
Refractory Ceramic Fibre (RCF)
As a result of EU classification, many European countries have reviewed the limits applying to occupational exposure levels for airborne respirable RCF and they have substantially reduced these limits. This has in turn resulted in increased costs of use and disposal of RCF based materials. RCF based products out-perform the alternatives in many high temperature foundry and steel mill applications and remain the best and in some cases the only suitable product
Body Soluble Fibre
Brightcross has developed a number of materials, which can be used as viable alternatives to RCF in a number of applications, and we are constantly improving and updating our range to provide suitable alternatives.
