Body Soluble Fibre
Brightcross has developed a number of materials, which can be used as viable alternatives to RCF in a number of applications, and we are constantly improving and updating our range to provide suitable alternatives. These are based on body soluble fibres which because of their composition (Na2O + K2O + CaO + MgO + BaO content exceeding 18% by weight) and their low biopersistence are not classified as carcinogenic.
It must be noted that control limits for respirable MMVF still apply, although these are generally higher than those applying to RCF
Alusol - is the preferred option for molten aluminium handling applications
Silin HT - containing high temperature body soluble fibre with insulating refractory fillers is the preferred option for non ferrous and ferrous foundry applications, where high temperatures are experienced for relatively short duration e.g. use in pouring systems, as riser sleeves and as anti-splash sleeves.
Isofrax - A mix containing Isofrax, a 1260°C grade of soluble fibre supplied by Unifrax (www.unifrax.com )
